Tracing Shadows is a cruel and magical performance that explores the fiction and fabrication of the self. The performance draws from figurative visual art and sculpture; the human figure half emerges from the darkness, alone, isolated and trapped, doubled over in torment, sliding into formlessness.

Helena combines powerfully sculpted movement with subtle traces of light and a dense bed of sound, to create a shifting interior landscape, that engages and activates the imagination. The delicate rendering of light hides as much as it reveals, distorting and disorientating body and space. Sound immerses the viewer in the experience, creating a sense of atmosphere and infusing the movement with weight and solidarity.  

A hypnotic and disturbing experience that is intensely imagined and physically enduring, Tracing Shadows goes beyond narrative and representation into the rumblings of the unconscious and the conflicts that lurk in the shadows of the mind.
