A collaborative performance in two parts, Ron Athey and Dominic Johnson explore Self-Obliteration, Inner Pigginess, and Mystical Grandiosity.

Starting with a palate of ideas about sex, death and sparkle, they take these themes into the California deserts in the heat of August, to create rituals of transubstantiation and magickal excess.

Death Valley, population 9. Endurance and delirium at 56.7 degrees celsius, making salt flats into variations on creeping hope. Parched skins threatening to match the shattered surface. Destituted, then blowing away. The body's drip system would melt a hole through the salt floor, worn out bodies peering into the grave, to listen. Once, less mindful of the harsher realities of things, there was only sex, and love, and bright lights. Now not to be consoled, two bodies at other ends of the earth are moving together, in times for which there is no sun.

Dominic Johnson lives and works in London. He has recently presented work in Ljubljana, Zagreb, Nottingham, and Los Angeles. He is Lecturer in the Dept of English and Drama, Queen Mary, University of London. He regularly publishes writings in academic journals and art magazines, and is currently mostly interested in - and rehearsing for - erotic complacency, emotional destitution, and death.

On Friday 10 November, the show will be followed by an after-show party at Chelsea Theatre in conjunction with KAOS. The party runs til 2am and special guest DJ Franko B will join KAOS residents Choronzon & Bradley. Tickets for this night's performance, including the after-show party, are £15 (£12 concessions).
